Hall of Fame Horse
Since this award is considered a lifetime achievement award,  a nominated horse did not have to compete within the year of the nomination.

  • Must have at least 1000 miles of successful completions on record with SEDRA.
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional performance throughout its career to include, but not necessarily limited to: a high percentage of completions, as well as some placements and/or wins in its division(s).   A division is defined as CTR, END/LD, or Ride and Tie.
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary performance as an excellent competition horse to include, but not necessarily limited to: willing attitude, responsiveness, longevity in the sport, physical condition, calmness and control under pressure, and respect for other equines and humans.
  • If the horse has ever received the Kings OCS Lad Memorial Trail Horse Award, this may be taken into consideration for awarding the SEDRA Hall of Fame Horse Award. (First, this horse must meet the other criteria.)
  • Special consideration may also be given to a horse that is close to, or at the end of its distance career.

Hall of Fame Rider

Since this award is considered a lifetime achievement award, a nominated rider did not have to compete within the year of the nomination.

  • Must have at least 1000 miles of successful completions on record with SEDRA.
  • Must have demonstrated exceptional performance as a distance competitor over time as evidenced by, but not necessarily limited to: a high percentage of completions as well as some placements and/or wins, campaigning horses that are consistently well-conditioned, well-mannered, and healthy, on-going improvement in their own and their horses(s)’ performance.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent horsemanship and stewardship of their horse(s).
  • Must have demonstrated a positive attitude, a sense of fair play, a respect for fellow riders, and a respect for ride management, volunteers, judges, and others’ horses.
  • Must have been a willing mentor to new riders and a support to experienced riders competing on green horses.
  • If the rider has ever received the Cathy Booth Memorial Horsemanship Award or the Mickey Blanford Excellence in Competition Award, this may be taken into consideration for awarding the SEDRA Hall of Fame Rider Award. (First, this rider must meet the other criteria.)
  • Participation as a volunteer on Sedra sanctioned events may also be taken into consideration for this award.
  • Special consideration may be given to a rider that is close to or at the end of his or her distance career.

Hall of Fame Horse and Rider Team

Since this award is considered a lifetime achievement award, a nominated team did not have to compete within the year of the nomination.

  • The team must have at least 1000 miles of successful completions together on record with SEDRA.
  • The team must have a high percentage rate of completions as well as some placements, and/or wins.
  • The team must have demonstrated a true bond as evidenced by an obvious caring and compassion for the horse on the rider’s part and by a calm willingness, even eagerness, to participate as a full partner with the rider on the horse’s part.
  • The team must have demonstrated respect for each other and for all other horse and rider teams in competition.
  • Special consideration may be given to a team that is at or near the end of their distance career.

  • Must have actively promoted the distance sports to other riders and horse owners.
  • Must have made significant contributions to SEDRA and the distance sports by volunteering at SEDRA sanctioned rides in at least two or more of the following roles: ride manager, ride judge, steward, trail advocate, educator at clinics on distance riding, SEDRA BOD position, active participation on SEDRA committees.
